Good news--the gospel--is found in the power of God to separate sinners from the intrinsic corruption that is found within them, sin itself. (Romans 6-8) Good news is the newness of life found by the person who has confessed their sin and surrendered fully to God in Christ. (Romans 6:4) Good news is purity given as the repentant one is washed whiter than snow, (Psalm 51:7) rather than the scarlet condition of sin celebrated.
Good news is the hard news that sin is indeed sin, but Jesus Christ came to redeem us from it and the consequence of sin, which is death. Shall the Reformed Church of San Francisco claim that sin is no longer sin?http://us8.campaign-archive2.com/…
How then can a man or women be cleansed as they also cling to what God has sworn to abolish? They toss in a toxic mix of sympathy as reason to not forsake sin and instead, forsake grasping the gift of God's beautiful and amazing redemption.
"He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him."
God will not glorify sin or sinful relationships, rather He seeks to save those who have been burdened by slavery to it. Rather than embracing homosexuality as a symbol of freedom from slavery, it is an embrace of personal and cultural spiritual slavery.
"The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8
Dare the church keep men and women IN their sin so that they will be destroyed rather than redeemed? No true branch of the vine of Jesus will do such a thing! People are too important and precious to condemn them to futility. Redeeming individuals from sin is very different than endorsing them in their sin.
Embracing gay theology is treason to the scripture itself and the One who breathed it.
With tremendous sadness in the failure of this church body and hope for others who have not sold the truth for 30 words of affirmation from those who are perishing,
