"THE POWER OF REPENTANCE & RESTORATION
As God has been moulding my ministry (MIDNIGHT CRY MINISTRY) into His Vision and Will for the Call He has placed on my life, I am always reminded of just how desperately I need to lean on the Holy Spirit to give me the strength, courage, boldness, wisdom, love, compassion, and even a willing spirit to sustain me while accomplishing all that is required of me in this ministry. There are several scriptures that I have embraced as anchors for my soul in this ministry (see below):
Psalm 51:10-13 "Create in me a clean heart Oh God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence God and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the Joy of your Salvation, and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you."
NOTE: This aforementioned scripture is my ministerial inspiration because it is truly my heart's deepest desire when the latter portion of the scripture says: ...Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you." (God has brought me out of the "Burning House of Homosexuality" and I desire to rush in as a spiritual fire-fighter and grab for the hands of other gays and lesbians who are reaching out from these same flames. They are reaching for Freedom in Christ" and I, along with a remnant of others who have been "set free", have the responsibility to do all we can to encourage gays and lesbians to come out of the fury furnace where they will be unbound and free from the bondage of sexual sin...saved through Jesus Christ and welcomed into the Kingdom of God. (Escaping the fires of Hell for all eternity.) Amen!
Psalm 51:17 "The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit and a contrite heart. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God".
NOTE: There are times when I fall into sin, as all men and women do, and it is then that I need to hit my knees and ask God for forgiveness and seek the Holy Spirit's guidance so that I won't be found repeating the sin again. I don't know about you but it literally breaks my heart when I feel I have hurt or disappointed my God. It is with true repentance (remorse) and a broken heart that God WILL NOT despise, but He will heal. I like to close my eyes when I repent and imagine Jesus reaching out and wrapping His loving arms around me. It just brings me a great comfort and demonstrates a deep longing for me to one day experience His true embrace when I get to heaven.
Philippians 1:6 "For I am confident that He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete the work He has begun unto the coming of Jesus Christ".
NOTE: I tell folks I meet that I am far from perfect and that if they look at me they need to see the sign that hangs from around my neck that would read "Watch your step because you may step on a rusty nail -- I'm under construction and my heart is the Construction Site". We are a "work in progress" and God, our creator, is not finished with us yet. Remember, with each mistake, fall, slip-up, mess or failure we make, God will use these things that the enemy meant for evil for our good. God will use these trials and tribulations we endure to mold us into the image of His son Jesus Christ. Fret not my beloved-- we are all God's craftsmanship and sometimes the Potter has to pinch and prod to mold us into the "vessel" for His divine purpose. I, for one, don't necessarily like the pinching and prodding taking place in my life, but ultimately when The Potter is done we become a part of God's Masterpiece and Divine Design, established for the purpose and plans He has for our lives. So STOP fussing and allow the Holy Spirit to do what He is best at doing-- moving us closer to the Image of Christ, as well as, leading us across Heaven's Finish Line. Amen!
These aforementioned scriptures Psalm 51:10-13, Psalm 51:17 and Philippians 1:6, serve as a continual reminder of several things anyone in their Christian walk will need to keep before them: 1) A clean heart; 2) A right spirit within me; 3) Joy of Christ' Salvation; 4) Obedience to teach transgressors God's ways with a result of sinners coming back to God; 5) A broken spirit; 6) A contrite heart (a sense of guilt and a desire for atonement); 7) Confidence (trust) in God's faithfulness
As I write this article, I must tell you, the reader, that I always write out of personal experience and recently I had a disagreement with a very close friend last night. The issue or topic of the argument is not important, but there was something that arose from out an ever so unattractive "dispute" -- an equally unattractive display of the emotions called Anger and its' close evil sibling called Pride. .By God's grace and mercy, by sunrise, after much prayer and a few shed tears, along with a large dose of "self pity", some "revelation" came. (The revelation that I needed to apologize and lay down my anger and pride so I, and the person I held an offense against, can be free in unity and the love of Christ). How many of you know what it is like to lose all of your self control to include the "power" of your tongue when you are angry? It seems a person has to shout louder than the other because each feels the other isn't hearing or happily embracing their side of the argument. In truth, anger and pride always makes a demand to be on the stage with the brightest spotlight a stage technician can muster up. But in the end, when all the dust has settled, the important issue is whether or not the two in dispute have stepped on common ground and feel as if they have been heard and understood-- and peace now abides over the household again. Praise God and a BIG Hallelujah! I don't like feeling the weight of oppression, depression, resentment, bitterness and all of that other garb the devil tries to place on your shoulders.
There is a holy scripture that gives great advice when you have an argument or disagreement:
Ephesians 5:25-27 says, "Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be ANGRY, and YET, DO NOT SIN, do not let the sun go down on your anger.
The aforementioned scripture tells us to go ahead and be angry, BUT do not sin.... I can't tell you how many times when I have found myself angry towards someone or about something and the enemy rushes in and puts negative thoughts in my mind--- placing an oversize magnifying glass on a small, minute problem. The Devil loves to see Christians fight and make a mountain out of a mole hill. If he can get us to cling onto anger and pride then he has free access to do what his goal and objective is: To steal, kill and destroy. He doesn't want Christian brothers and sisters to walk in unity and peace. That is why the above scripture continues with-- "....do not let the sun go down on your anger". Satan knows if he can get us to walk away with "unfinished business" that results in resentment and bitterness-- and it is allowed to fester over night-- come morning that little issue (or flicker) that started the blaze is now a full forest fire of unresolved anger. So my beloved, let us rise up, wise up and keep the unity and peace in our godly relationships. Amen.
SIDE NOTE: When I was in the gay lifestyle I witnessed and also had my share of experiencing a lot of anger and pride issues. The homosexual community is an angry and prideful group of lost souls who fight for what they believe is "truth...justice...and the pursuit of happiness". They are fueled by anger and pride because they are constantly encouraged to go to the frontlines with a readiness to protect and safeguard a lifestyle that God declares is an abomination. Satan fuels the fires with false accusations, lies and deception that stream throughout the LGBT ranks. When I was in the gay lifestyle I was "conditioned" and "programmed" to stand up against the "Great Nemesis" called Christianity and any propaganda that declared "The Truth that sets the captives free". A perverted lifestyle that is armed with the ammunition of Pride and Anger can only lead to further destruction for these lost souls in the end.
I close with reiterating my ministerial scripture:
Psalm 51:10-13 "Create in me a clean heart Oh God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence God and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the Joy of your Salvation, and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you."
I bid all of my readership many blessings of the Lord Almighty. Go in unity and peace-- and continue to do whatever must be done when you find yourself in an argument with someone. "Be angry, BUT, do not let the sun go down on your anger". Let us unite in the righteousness of Christ for we are One body-- God's people-- Our Heavenly Father's Children. My beloved, much blessings, prayers and love.
